Parkinson’s Care

Parkinson's Care Winnipeg

Families and individuals looking to manage their own home care will find themselves right at home with our home care service. We can help you apply for Manitoba’s Self & Family Managed Care WRHA Home Care Program (SFM).

This program allocates money to patients with Parkinson’s, allowing you to hire and coordinate private care services as you see fit. Many individuals with Parkinson’s and other movement disorders are eligible for SFM approval.

At Right at Home, we ensure that you have all of the tools and assistance you need to continue living at home.

Our Approach to Disability Home Care

Home care starts with a personalized assessment of your needs. We collaborate with you to ensure you receive all the care you need. For movement disorders like Parkinson’s, this care often includes assessing your needs for:
  • Administering medication and medication management
  • Mobility assistance
  • Fall prevention strategies
  • Physiotherapy
  • Nutritional support
  • And more

Our caring and compassionate staff use a holistic approach, helping to address your physical, emotional, and social needs. We’ll work in collaboration with your family doctor, physical therapist, occupational therapist, speech therapist, and any other members of your medical team. By collaborating on patient care, we can work together to reduce the negative impact that Parkinson’s or any other movement disorder may have on your life.

Our Specialized Parkinson's Care Services

We offer a wide variety of patient care services. Our service goes beyond simple management—we want you to thrive. Here’s how we can help:

  • Medication Management: In collaboration with your medical team, we can help ensure that you’re always receiving the right medications. We can monitor your daily prescriptions, ensure that your prescriptions are always up to date, and assist with administering medication. Not all of our patients will need all of these services—that’s why all of our services are tailored to our patients’ needs.
  • Mobility Assistance: Our staff can help you move around your home, providing assistance with walking, sitting, and other mobility needs. We can also help you move from one mobility aid to another. We’ll also help assess slip and trip dangers and move or replace them.
  • Collaboration: The team at Right At Home will collaborate with physical and occupational therapists, speech therapists, nutritionists, and other members of your medical team to create a customized care plan for you. Your personal care team will then work with you to implement the care regime your medical team has developed.
  • Nutritional Support: Our home care staff will provide you with balanced, nutritious meals. We tailor our meals to help support the dietary needs of people with Parkinson’s.
  • Social and Recreational Support: We understand that friends, family, and community are essential to your well-being. We’ll help you meet, celebrate, and enjoy the company of those you care about, providing you with any resources you need to socialize.
